Having worked in Australia’s classical musical industry since 1990, George Ellis has connected with the best orchestral musicians in the nation. Over the years, he has formed his own orchestra comprised of these musicians – it has performed throughout Australia under his direction. The George Ellis Orchestra has performed at the Sydney Opera House, City Recital Hall Angel Place, Hamer Hall in Melbourne, Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Adelaide Festival Theatre and the Perth Concert Hall. It has also recorded film scores at Sydney’s acclaimed Trackdown Studios.
Made up of young and vibrant musicians, The George Ellis Orchestra can perform music by classical composers such as Mozart, Mahler and Shostakovich as well as music in combination with popular musicians including, Kate Miller-Heidke, Kate Ceberano, Megan Washington, Josh Pyke, Fanny Lumsden, Amber Lawrence, Troy Cassar-Daley and iconic rock band The Church. In 2017, the orchestra performed for iconic film composer Hans Zimmer for his national Australian tour. It is as versatile as it is accomplished, and receives great accolades and reception whenever it performs.
